Judson came to be pastor of SDBC on January 1, 1963. After his retirement from Stuarts Draft Baptist Church he was named Pastor Emeritus.

Our current pastor Dr. William Kopp has said. "In the church's one-hundred-twenty-plus year history, no one has served her more faithfully or with greater impact. It was during his twenty-nine year pastorate that SDBC saw some of its greatest growth and its most important work. Deeply committed to missions, Judson led the church to establish its first Lottie Moon goal, invited missionaries from all over the world to speak, and led the church in planting what has become Sher-Lynd Baptist Church. A fixture in the Stuarts Draft community who shared his time and talents freely, he will be greatly missed. Still, we shall not "grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope." For "we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 NIV) Good-bye, Judson, may you rest in peace. "

The following tribute was printed in our 75th Anniversary Program.

We looked in high and lofty churches to find a pastor to replace the one God and called "into another part of His vineyard for service."

We traveled far and wide, and often felt dejected, unloved and unwanted. Sometimes we tried to work on our own strenght but somehow God was always able to bring about His will.

In a still small voice God kept saying, "Have you considered my servent Judson?"

We would not heed his voice at first but his word kept coming back.

When we finally yielded to His command, He led us to the hills of Rileyville and there on that hilllside showed us a "modern-day David." We know you are the shepherd God had picked for his flock at Stuarts Draft.

You and your good wife Isalelle, Tom and Jeanine too, have blessed our church and our lives. You have led us by the still waters and in paths of righteousness.

You have stayed close by when we've walked through the valley of shadows.

Many times we have failed or disappointed you and oft gone astray; however you have been the good shepheard, lovingly bringing us back to the Father's fold.

Our cup runneth over.

God sent Rev. Judson Baldwin to us six years ago to be our pastor, and his   love bestow.
We wouldn't forget the blessings of his children and wife;
We pary God's belssings upon them for life.
He has been a faithful Shepherd in every way;
Sevring us in love and example day by after day
In homes of sorrow, bereavement or care
We can be sure to find our pastor there.
Bringing Christian comfort, sympahty and lovee
As God has given him this gift from above.
God's Holy Word has been his Lamp and Guide
Showing us how important in His will to abide.
He has preached righteousness to the congregation
In the true gosped from Genesis to Revelation.
We thank him for this service well done,
And pray God wil use him for years to come.

Rev. Koy Peterson and his wife Wilma served at SDBC from April 22, 1962 till December 30, 1962. Rev. Peterson wrote of his interim ministry. "The greatest accomplishment of this period, and to my thinking, of any period, was having had a little part in bringing a great pastor and a great church together.
